Richard first studied Art and Art History, before embarking upon a career in hairdressing. After a glittering career with Vidal Sassoon that would last almost 20 years. Richard conceived and began Saco in 2006, a brand that upholds the values of quality, professionalism and modernity, the things closest to his heart. With salons and academies around the world, Saco continues to grow and consistently break new ground. Richard’s career speaks volumes in illustrating ID, Tatler the list goes on. He has worked with some of the photographic greats from Norman Parkinson and David Bailey to Peter Lindbergh. In 2012 he launched NOISE – a visceral, underground, white-knuckle ride’ of a hair-show that has fast gained an international reputation as The Hair show to see. Richard has taken the show to several International Cities including Tokyo, Paris, Moscow, and Shanghai. Winner of countless International awards and twice nominated for British Hairdresser of the Year, Richard’ seasonal collections continually innovate and inspire. A master educator, his ability to connect with audiences of all nationalities, shapes, and sizes, is second to none. Richard is Internationally renowned for his directional, forward- thinking ideas, his belief in simplicity and commitment to beauty- reflected in everything he does.

OVERVIEW OF THE COURSE.

This course has been designed by renowned industry innovator Richard Ashforth to enable you to gain confidence and understanding of natural textures, feeling able to embrace and encourage textures, liberating your approach and clients potential.

COURSE STRUCTURE/FORMAT

This one day programme will consist of a morning live demonstration (live models) with Master Educator Richard Ashforth creating some trend looks around texture and curl. This session will focus on two types of curl textures to explore the differences/characteristics of each, plus a trend lecture based on all things curls.

WHAT THE STUDENT WILL GAIN FROM THE COURSE.

Students should leave the course with a fuller understanding of how to understand, work with a finish textured hair. Curls/natural texture often intimidate stylists and as such they are inclined to shy away from working with texture and instead, feel more secure in changing the natural shape of the hair through blow-drying or straightening the hair into something they can control. The course is designed to bust a few myths and fears about unruly locks and allow stylist and client embrace the natural character of the hair.
